Day 1: Fes – Midelt – Erfoud – Merzouga – Erg Chebbi

You will rise early on the first day of your 3-day tour from Fes to Marrakech. You will leave Fez at 8:00 am to travel to Midelt. The two picturesque cities of Ifrane and Azrou will be passed through.

You will pause at Ifrane for a time so that you may see how impressively European this lovely Moroccan town is. In the midst of the diversity of its natural locations, this land offers a true change of scenery. Visit this city’s surrounding natural areas for a picnic that is very special. Another unique feature of the area is the Atlas Cedar Grove. You will take a break at Azrou’s Cedar Forest to capture pictures of the Barbarian apes. You’ll experience a lot of thrilling experiences in Ifrane!

You will then proceed to drive to Midelt. This is a stunning Alpine region. This is a fantastic place to cool off and unwind after the bustle of Fes, surrounded by enormous pine trees and a calm mountain backdrop. You’ll make a lunch stop.
You will go to Erfoud, the location of the Sahara desert’s beginning, in the late afternoon. A short offroad will lead you to the edge of the golden dunes, where camels are waiting for you. From there, your luggage will be loaded into a 4×4 and driven to your luxurious campers.

The Erg Chebbi sand dunes, however, will be traversed by camels for roughly an hour. However, you don’t travel all the way into the desert, so don’t anticipate a long journey. You will have the opportunity to witness the magnificent sunset on the route. When you arrive at your luxury camp, you’ll be greeted with tea and kind smiles. You will then be led to your lovely, private tents, each of which has an ensuite bathroom and a shower so you can unwind and settle in before supper.
You end the night with a bonfire and group singing after eating dinner with everyone. It finally sinks in that you are barefoot on Saharan sand. All the other work is worthwhile because of this. It certainly is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. It does resemble what you see in movies, and if you so choose, you can even spend the night outside.

Day 2: Merzouga – Rissani – Todra Gorges – Dades Gorges

You must get up as early as possible in the morning to catch the breathtaking dawn. After finishing breakfast at the camp, you will ride your camels back to the hamlet and leave the tranquility of the desert behind. You will make a pit stop at the Rissani market in the Tafilalet oasis on the way to the Todra Gorges.

Rissani; its humble outward look now conceals a spectacular past that includes Sijilmasa’s entrepôt and the cradle of the Alawite dynasty. The main reason for constructing the tradepost of Sijilmasa here, on the outskirts of modern-day Rissani, in the middle of the eighth century was this location at the gates of the desert, at the intersection of two of the most significant trans-Saharan routes, and a few kilometers from a river and an oasis. It quickly became one of the main trading hubs in the area. Due to its desirable location, it was a sought-after target, which caused it to have an intensive and turbulent history (wars, captures, destruction, and rebuilding) until the 14th century when it served as the headquarters for the dynasty that is still in power today.
Moving on, you get to Todra Gorge, you’ll have time to explore its 300-meter canyon walls on foot. Water springs from a rocky mountain in the picturesque Todra Gorge and cascades down a lush valley. It’s one of the main tourist destinations in Morocco and a haven for hikers, bike riders, climbers, and photographers. The gorge has also been depicted in a 2012 Cadillac CTS commercial in the American TV program “Expedition Impossible”.

You will also pass by the stunning Dades and Rose valleys on the way. The picturesque valleys of the Dades River are surrounded by hundreds of Islamic sites, citadels, palm trees, and desert sands, making it one of the most historic highways in the nation, whether you consider them to be one gorge or multiple. Travelers claim that the Dades Gorges sweeping crimson hills are what make the trip worthwhile. Visitors can explore this picturesque location on foot after driving up switchbacks and sipping a steaming cup of Moroccan mint tea at the gorge’s top. A spectacular resting spot offers breathtaking vistas and unobstructed views of rolling red cliffs.

Day 3: Dades Gorges- Skoura – Ouarzazate- Ait Ben Haddou – Marrakech

Our 3-Day Fes to Marrakech Desert Tour concludes with a visit to the Kasbah of Taourirt in Ouarzazate on the final day. En route, you will travel via the Valley of the Dades, Skoura, and the Valley of the Roses.

After breakfast, you will travel to Skoura, popularly known as the “Oasis of the 1000 Palm Trees,” which boasts a diverse array of palm groves and historic mud-brick kasbahs constructed to guard the oases. On Monday, Skoura’s souq will be open, and vendors will be swarming the streets. You will thus struggle to find a parking space on a side street after dodging anxious crowds and wild animals. After that, you will wander the crowded market in Skoura’s town center, where you will also get tajine, olives, salad, dates, pomegranates, and grapes.

You will also visit, Kasbah Amridil which was located on the outskirts of Skoura at the boundary between the desert and the palmeraie. It was one of Morocco’s largest and most sought kasbahs, having been constructed in the 17th century. It featured multiple levels, fascinating interior courtyards, and undiscovered terraces. Bread-baking earth ovens, antique tools, an olive oil press, and intricate geometric ornamentation. The kasbah’s residents slept on a mat that they rolled up every morning while lying on the ground.

After a delicious lunch, you’ll visit one of the local film studios since Ouarzazate is well-known for producing what is referred to as “Ouallywood” films. Additionally, it’s where actors rent out equipment for Ait Benhaddou filming. Your next stop will be the Kasbah of Ait Benhaddou, a Berber fortification and Touareg trading center that is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It is also well recognized for its movie stills from Lawrence of Arabia and Gladiator. In the late afternoon, you will pass the Tichka Pass, which is situated in the upper Atlas Mountains.

Following the old caravan route, you proceed down the Draa Valley’s palm trees. You pass a number of historic Kasbahs, Tamnougalte being one of the most well-known. You turn onto the paved road at the town of Adgz. Then, after making a halt at Morocco’s highest point (2260 meters), you’ll go see a cooperative that produces argan oil.

You travel to Marrakech, arriving in the dark, after traversing the Tizi n Tinfifite (1,660 m), the Anti-Atlas Mountains, and Ouarzazate. At night, Marrakech is at its most exotic and enchanted. The intriguing Moroccan landscape changes naturally as the sun gently sets beneath starry, warm nighttime skies. There is a vibrant buzz in the air as the Medina beautifully twinkles with lights.

The city is filled with the enticing aroma of cooking spices and Berber food, and the muezzin (calls to prayer) can be heard from all over. A magnificent sensory experience, Marrakech at night is pure joy. The essence of Marrakech draws tourists from all over the world; it charms and surprises you endlessly. The tour ends at a hotel in Marrakech.
